ColorFlash Stimulator

A handheld visual flash stimulator for high performance and versatility

With its flash luminance from 0.01 to 1,000 cd·s/m2, ColorFlash is a great option when Ganzfeld flash stimulators won’t do. Use visual flash stimulators with children who can’t sit still or in the operating room with patients in the supine position. Test patients at 30 cm (~1 ft), or any distance from 0 to 3 meters. ColorFlash supports all the combinations of flash and background colors that stimulate photoreceptors: white, red, green and blue.

Perform ISCEV standard tests of retinal function

This stimulator supports flash-based tests defined by the International Society of Clinical Electrophysiology and Vision (ISCEV) standards, guidelines, and derived protocols. These tests include full-field electroretinography (ERG), visual evoked potential (VEP), full-field sensitivity threshold (FST), and dark adaptometry (DA).

The ideal visual flash stimulator for pediatric applications with built-in animal sounds

ColorFlash is optimized for testing children and infants who have short attention spans. What’s that sound: a cow, a dog, a cat, a sheep, a duck, or a bell? Get the attention of your youngest patients with built-in animal sounds. Evaluate children with suspected night blindness, congenital nystagmus, abnormal fundus exams, poor vision or visual delays, suspected retinopathy of prematurity, or retinal hemorrhage.

ColorFlash produces sounds to get children to look in the direction of the visual flash stimulator before they are visually stimulated

Test children in less than 10 minutes without anesthesia

Using the visual flash stimulator ColorFlash, clinicians at the Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) for Children in London have developed the abridged ERG & VEP protocol for pediatrics. The protocols are based on decades of proven clinical use at GOSH and other clinics. The protocols use skin electrodes, which are safe even during abrupt movements, eliminating the need to put children under anesthesia. Even pupil dilation is unnecessary.
