Protocol Downloads

Below are a collection of protocols which run on Espion software V3 and higher and are designed to ISCEV standards. To install the protocol into the current connected database of your Espion program, download the protocol file and copy onto your console. Next go to the “Database Center” menu within the Espion program and from here press the “Transfer In” button and select the protocol file to import. The protocol will now appear in the current list of protocols available.

Protocols
Product Name Item Number Espion Version Revision Description Download File
ColorDome D125 3 2 ISCEV standard ERG protocol for dark rod, dark maximal response, dark OP, light maximal, light OP and 30Hz flicker with simultaneous eye recording. A hardcopy of the protocol parameters can be found in the following table. iscev_erg_colordome_2_chan_rev_2.exp
ColorBurst D213 3 1 ISCEV standard ERG protocol for dark rod, dark maximal response, dark OP, light maximal, light OP and 30Hz flicker with sequential eye recording of both eyes. OS followed by OD. A hardcopy of the protocol parameters can be found in the following table. iscev_erg_colorburst_1_channel.exp
ColorDome D125 3 4 ISCEV standard EOG 4 channel protocol using 3 steps; trial step, dark phase and light phase. 2 chans are virtual showing raw unfiltered data. 13 minutes per step. Uses bandpass filter. Requires Espion V3 patch 21 or later software iscev_eog_4_chan_rev_4.exp
ColorDome D125 3 4 ISCEV standard EOG 2 channel protocol using 3 steps; trial step, dark phase and light phase. 13 minutes per step. Uses bandpass filter. Requires Espion V3 patch 21 or later software
iscev_eog_2_chan_rev_4.exp
Pattern D143 3 1 ISCEV standard PERG 2 channel protocol. 1 step: 4.5 rev/s
iscev_perg_2_chan_rev_1.exp
Pattern D143 3 1 ISCEV standard VEP 3 channel protocol. Oz, O3, O4, positive down, 5 steps: 15mins, 30mins, 60mins, 120mins and 300mins iscev_pvep_3_chan_rev_1.exp
External Trigger N/A 3 3 Similar to EOG protocol above, except it produces a trigger pulse on the external trigger output to trigger a 3rd party EOG LED system. iscev_eog_rev_3__ext_trig_.exp

The next table contains several Microsoft Excel spreadsheets designed as templates to help you design your protocols on paper (or in Excel) before committing them in the software, The templates contain a list of all the protocol parameters including a description, input ranges and suggested values.

Protocol Type Description Download File
General 3 channel template A general template including 3 channels and 3 markers. This can be used as a basis for all new protocols protocol.xls
ERG with 1 channel template Template designed for single channel (sequential recording of two eyes) where every step may have different acquisition, channel and marker parameters erg_protocol_1.xls
ERG with 2 channels template Template designed for double channel simultaneous recording of two eyes) where every step may have different acquisition, channel and marker parameters erg_protocol_2.xls
VEP with 3 channels template Template designed for recording from 3 channels and positioning 3 markers where each step only changes the stimulus parameters. vep_protocol_3.xls
ISCEV ERG 1 channel protocol Example of the ISCEV standard ERG protocol for the ColorBurst with sequential eye recording ISCEV_ERG_protocol_1.xls or ISCEV_ERG_Protocol_1.pdf
ISCEV ERG 2 channel protocol Example of the ISCEV standard ERG protocol for the ColorDome with simultaneous eye recording ISCEV_ERG_protocol_2.xls or ISCEV_ERG_Protocol_2.pdf

Below are a collection of user defined waveform files for custom control of the ColorDome/ColorBurst stimulators. Files may be edited in any ASCII editor e.g. Microsoft Wordpad or Notepad or a spreadsheet such as Excel. To run any file, download, and copy into the Espion directory. Display the stimulus menu and select the “User Defined” flash mode. Then enter the filename and press the apply button to see the stimulus.

User Defined Files
Product Name Item Number Description Download File
N/A N/A Document describing how to write user defined ColorBurst and ColorDome scripts to create your own stimulus waveforms (V3 only) user_defined_files.pdf [53kB]
ColorDome / ColorBurst D125/D213 Define a color CIE vector between two CIE end colors and sinusoidally traverse the vector at 1Hz. (This may not work on all systems) vector.col
Dual ColorDome / ColorBurst D125/D213 Similar to “vector.col”, but defines a vector between red and green and if dual stimulators selected, the outputs will be 180 degrees out of phase. This is an example using a complex formula rather than explicit ms timing blocks formula.col
ColorDome / ColorBurst D125/D213 Example of a very long stimulus. This produces a 10 second sinusoidal red output longsine.col
ColorDome / ColorBurst D125/D213 Example of user defined variables. This stimulus produces a pulse with variable mark/space timing, intensity and color all of which can be controlled from the stimulus menu pulse.col
ColorDome D125 Example of the ISCEV standard ERG protocol for the ColorDome with simultaneous eye recording xenon.col
ColorDome / ColorBurst D125 Produces red, green and blue sinusoidal outputs at 1Hz, 2Hz and 3Hz simultaneously sine.col
